The Student Conservation Association’s Urban Green program advances innovative climate solutions, prioritizes environmental justice and youth development, and leverages the strength of public-private partnerships.
Our Urban Green program provides young people with paid green jobs, including single-day service projects, seasonal work and year-long internships or fellowships.
Urban Green programs are located in Atlanta, Chicago, Cleveland, Houston, Newark, New York City, Oakland/Bay Area, Pittsburgh, Seattle, and the Washington, D.C. metro area, with further expansion still to come.

This position will supervise a team of ten high school youth completing hands-on conservation and restoration projects within different areas in the Forest Preserves of Cook County.
Dates: June 24-28, 2024 (training), July 1 – Aug. 2, 2024 (program).
Pay: $23/hr.

This position will supervise a team of 12 high school youth completing hands-on conservation projects, potentially including trail construction and rehabilitation, general trail management, natural resource enhancements and invasive species removal across multiple partner sites in the Seattle area.
Dates: June 5 – Aug. 27, 2024.
Pay: $900/wk.
This position will supervise a team of high school youth members to complete field conservation projects throughout Yosemite’s backcountry areas.
Dates: June 13-23, 2024 (training), July 8 – Aug. 2, 2024 (program).
Pay: $900/wk stipend.
This position will supervise a team of 10 high school students. The crew will be working on various conservation projects in parks located in the Bronx and Upper Manhattan.
Dates: June 13-16, 2024 (training), June 27 – Aug. 14, 2024 (program).

We have seen a variety of majors participate: History, English, Art, International Relations, Business, Math, Spanish etc. Some positions are looking for applicants with specific backgrounds, while others offer on-site training and only require that applicants be passionate about the position.
