Ready to protect our green spaces? Get hands-on conservation experience with Houston Urban Green!
The SCA’s Houston Urban Green program offers paid youth conservation jobs and volunteer opportunities for teens and young adults to restore parks and natural areas, build trails, gain environmental knowledge, and connect with the outdoors.
Paid Opportunities:
Our Summer Program is a paid service opportunity occurring during the workweek. Participants work across the Houston region, partnering with local nonprofits and government agencies on long-term conservation projects like trail building, dune restoration, and invasive species removal. You’ll also gain environmental education through field trips and discussions — while earning an hourly wage working in nature.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Our School-Year Program is a weekend volunteer program. Over five camping weekends at parks and nature areas around Houston, you’ll participate in intensive conservation projects like trail building, habitat restoration, and invasive species removal. You’ll also enjoy environmental education activities and outdoor recreation.
Environmental Education:
Our Urban Tree House Program, in partnership with the Houston Parks Board, provides free environmental education for Houston urban youth (K-12). This program fosters a love for nature and empowers students to impact their local environment positively.
