NEW YORK – The Student Conservation Association (SCA), together with Sony Pictures Television, will host a day of service at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in honor of the 25th anniversary of the beloved sitcom The King of Queens, which was set in Queens, New York, during its run from 1998-2007.
Fans and outdoor enthusiasts from all boroughs are welcome to celebrate this exciting milestone by helping to restore the Flushing Bay Promenade.
Flushing Meadows is the fourth largest public park in New York and home of the iconic Unisphere, which is seen in the opening of every episode of The King of Queens.
Volunteers can participate in a variety of service projects on the north side of the park, including invasive species removal, trash pickup and helping to restore the promenade by clearing, cleaning and repainting the rails along the marina. Swag giveaways will kick off this exciting day of service!
Volunteers are encouraged to wear long pants and sturdy shoes that you don’t mind getting dirt or paint on. Bring extra layers and dress appropriately for the weather. Please also bring your own water bottle to stay hydrated. Snacks and water will be provided.
