The SCA’s Gulf Corps performs critical invasive species removal, shoreline restoration, water quality monitoring, trail work, boardwalk repair and more along the Gulf Coast from Alabama to Texas. Crew members are paid hourly and receive work certifications, career development opportunities and coastal habitat restoration training. Since 2018, the GulfCorps crew has restored over 3,000 acres of habitat.
In 2021, the SCA received additional funding from the RESTORE Council to continue the program for three more years. Our crews also receive support from The Corps Network’s Opportunity Youth Service Initiative AmeriCorps Program, which provides members an education award to members who serve with our program.

The Student Conservation Association is seeking Field Leaders (age 21+) to guide and inspire its Alabama Conservation Corps team made up of eight young adults based in Mobile, Alabama, while helping improve habitats along the Gulf Coast. Crew Leaders will oversee and lead projects such as invasive species management, habitat restoration, trail maintenance, fire break preparation, and boardwalk repair. Projects will take place outdoors at parks, nature preserves, wildlife refuges and other public lands. Monitoring and data collection will be ongoing while in the field, using ESRI Field Maps. Strong conservation work skills (power tool operation, chainsaw and carpentry) and experience in leading teams and mentoring individuals are preferred for this position.
Program Dates: Sept. 1, 2026 – Feb. 20, 2027
Pay: $600/wk. + $1,000 travel stipend
Learn More & ApplyThe Student Conservation Association is seeking crew members (age 18+) for its Alabama Conservation Corps team. Projects will include invasive management, trail work, litter abatement, fire break maintenance, and boardwalk construction/repairs. The crew will start and begin each day at the Mobile office and then travel to the project site for the day in SCA vehicles. Service projects will take place outdoors in the elements and will at times require heavy lifting (~50 lb.), hiking, and operating equipment such as chainsaws and brush cutters.
