The SCA Alaska Conservation Corps – an AmeriCorps program focused on leadership development, trail maintenance projects and women’s fire teams – provides youth and young adults opportunities to grow competitive skills to prepare them for future careers in environmental conservation.
Program participants complete hands-on service projects with various federal, state and local agencies across Alaska while receiving professional development training and nationally recognized certifications.

Join The Crew
The SCA is seeking crew members (age 18+) to join the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge Alaska Corps Team based in Soldotna, Alaska. The group will consist of four members and one leader (age 21+) who will work with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on trail maintenance, construction, boardwalk repair and vegetation removal on the Swan and Swanson River Canoe Systems. The crew will camp and work together outdoors for the duration of the program. Members should be comfortable traveling by canoe with gear over open water.

The SCA is seeking crew members (age 18+) to join the Alaska Restoration Corps based in Hope, Alaska. The group will consist of three members and one leader (age 21+) who will work with the U.S. Forest Service to restore the natural structure and function of Resurrection Creek, an important salmon spawning habitat. The restoration project will include rebuilding the degraded stream channel and floodplains, constructing pools, side channels and ponds, installing logs and root-wads and re-vegetating stream banks and riparian areas. The crew will live and work together outdoors for the duration of the program.

The SCA is seeking crew members (age 18+) to join the Alaska Corps Petersburg Ranger District Team based in Ketchikan, Alaska. The group will consist of five members and one leader (age 21+) who will conduct various projects, including building and repairing trails, removing downed trees, building new trail structures, cleaning drainages and performing trail assessments. The crew will live and work together outdoors for the duration of the program.

The SCA Alaska Trail Corps is a 14-week AmeriCorps program focused on leadership development, completing trail work projects and building a sense of community. As a member of a five-person crew, you will be led by one SCA Project Leader.
Alaska Corps teams live and work together for the duration of their program. The SCA emphasizes the importance of community building and growth in interpersonal skills throughout the program.
Learn More About SCA AlaskaThe SCA Alaska Women’s Fire Corps is a 14-week AmeriCorps program focused on leadership and skills development, designed to increase the representation of female-identifying and non-binary people in wildland fire. As a member of an eight-person crew, you will be led by two SCA Project Leaders.
The team will undergo Guard School training with the National Park Service and will likely be deployed on one live fire during the season, during which times they will be employed and paid by the NPS.
After the season, members and leaders will be competitive for wildland fire jobs with multiple agencies.
