To honor the life and dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the Student Conservation Association partnered with the Friends of Anacostia Park and the National Park Service to host the MLK Day of Service litter cleanup event on Jan. 16 along the Anacostia River at Anacostia Park in Washington, D.C.

Back in person for cleanup for the first time since 2019, working alongside the SCA were nearly 100 volunteers alongside members of the Biden Administration, including Ali Zaidi, Assistant to the President & National Climate Advisor, and Shalanda Young, Director of the Office of Management and Budget. AmeriCorps staff were also on-site. Check out this news clip from WUSA9 in D.C. about the event.
