The SCA has been fielding Urban Green crews in Seattle since 2007. Crew members must be currently in high school or recent high school graduates to participate in Seattle Urban Green programs. Crew leaders must be over 21 and have housing in the Seattle area for the duration of the summer program.
Summer High School Conservation Crews
These paid positions take place from July to August and offer high school students and recent graduates a transformative experience outdoors. You'll complete hands-on conservation projects and learn about careers in conservation and related fields. Typically working 35 hours per week, your crew will be led by two adult Crew Leaders and will engage with a variety of organizations around western Washington, including on environmental education field trips.
Summer Conservation Crews
Crew Leaders supervise and train our SCA summer youth crews working in the field. These paid outdoor positions guide, inspire and motivate our high school participants while ensuring their safety and wellbeing. During a June training session and throughout the season, crew leaders gain experience and expertise in various conservation skills like trail building, habitat restoration, plant identification, environmental education, urban forestry and community outreach. These positions are great for young professionals building their conservation and environmental work experience.
