SCA Contacting Members Post-Earthquake

In the wake of a 5.9 magnitude earthquake some 90 miles southwest of Washington, D.C. which was felt throughout the eastern United States, SCA is communicating with every member serving in the affected region.

Fortunately, indications are the quake’s effects were relatively minor and thus far all reporting SCA members convey no significant impact from the tremor.

We advise members in the field to follow local protocols and instructions from their site supervisor. Typically, these include staying at ground level, using stairs rather than the elevator, and recognizing the possibility of aftershocks. Phone lines and other communications technology may also be temporarily affected.

We are also watching Hurricane Irene as it advances toward the southeast US and will have updates here as necessary.
