The candidate selected will work as a park guide at several natural and historic sites in the park.  The principle duties will be to provide information to the public about things to do and see in the park, including the significance of park resources and recreational amenities.  As a park guide, the intern will present informational talks and guided tours following a prescribed outline to park visitors to inform and educate; and to respond verbally to park visitor questions, giving directions and guidance.    The experience will include staffing a visitor contact station and patrolling on park trails to provide park and safety information; reporting resource protection information; and support during special events and park activities.  The rewards of this position are working in a park setting with the public in the outdoors.  A portion of the time will be spent on assistingthe park develop a small interpretive guide for families and young people.

This position is NOT AmeriCorps eligible
  • Great Falls Park is located 14 miles up the Potomac River from Washington DC, and offers spectacular scenery, hiking and nature and history exploring.
