This position is a seasonal internship on the Chippewa National Forest, working as a lead naturalist at the Cut Foot Sioux Visitor Center.  The intern will work a Wed-Sunday schedule.   During the week, the intern will provide visitor information and coordinate with District staff and Visitor Center hosts.  Naturalist will develop lesson plans tied to National Forest interpretive themes and present programs throughout the week.  Average schedule is about 6-8 programs per week, including hikes, campfire talks, presentations and family activities.

Naturalist will also work with interpretive displays, developing at least one new display during the summer and maintaining existing displays.  Also works with bookstore through Interpretive Association.  The Cut Foot Sioux Visitor Center welcomes approximately 5500 visitors in the summer months.

This position is not AmeriCorps eligible.

  • Cut Foot Sioux Recreation Area—visitor center, 6 developed campgrounds, trails, boat ramps, resorts
