Position ID
This position will work on natural and cultural resource management projects including GIS and GPS work, specifically doumenting the park utilities, doing deer spotlight surveys, trail work and planning, curatorial object preservation and database work.
  • Catoctin Mountain Park, Resource Management Office in Thurmont, MD. The park is nine square miles and contains 25 miles of hiking trails.
  • The intern will learn about the Distance Sampling Technique for estimating wildlife populations, and take at least one field trip to another park in the area.
  • While working with the two biologists at the park the intern will have the opportunity to learn about wildlife population estimation, plant identification, and water quality. There will be at least one field trip to another National Park site.
