Join a team of dedicated rangers working to help visitors appreciate, understand, and appropriately enjoy this stunning red rock desert. You’ll expand your personal knowledge and skills by learning about the park and sharing this information with visitors. In this position, you will provide orientation and safety information at the visitor center (25%), issue backcountry permits (25%), collect entrance fees (25%), may develop a campfire program (5%) and rove park trails (20%). The town of Monticello (55 miles) provides gas and groceries, while major services are available in Moab, Utah (75 miles), or Cortez, Colorado (100 miles). This Internship is Not Eligible for an AmeriCorps Education Award
  • Much of the park is wilderness providing unique possibilities to explore this untouched landscape.
  • A full, one-week training by area experts on the natural and cultural history of the area, interpretive skills and NPS operations, along with many on-the-job opportunities.
  • The nearby Henry & La Sal Mountains are cool forest retreats and fifteen other state & national park sites within a day’s drive make for amazing weekend getaways. Moab, and adventure mecca is only 72 miles away.
