Position ID
We are seeking two individuals to assist the Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area which is an alliance of state, federal, and non-profit agencies that manage natural resources in the 11 coastal counties of Georgia. Each agency will have several invasive species related projects from removal and control work, to volunteer day coordination, to invasive species mapping and monitoring, to public outreach events. The persons in this position will obtain an understanding of the major invasive species issues in coastal Georgia, have the opportunity to work with seveal state, federal and non profit organizations, and help us attain some of our management goals.  
  • The eleven Coastal Counties of Georgia, but based out of Darien Georgia
  • SCA member will be trained on invasive species and the natural communities including plant and animal identification, appropriate and safe methods of invasive species control, and mapping techniques.
  • The Georgia Coast has 8 main barrier island complexes, many of which are accessible and offer camping, beaches, bike paths, historical attractions. Savannah and Jacksonville are medium sized cities that offer many cultural activites.
