Develop and present programs relating to the Civil War to Civil Rights theme, facilitatate communications between participating parks on this theme for joint interpretive messages, and write press releases and post on social media.  Will reach out to make the intepretive/thematic connections with youth through manifestion of volunteer projects or the presentation and promotions of these ideals to youth leaders and organizations within the community.   May also meet with key partners to help determine needs and wants of the program for the community and participate in interpretive planning as it relates to historical and cultural programming for the parks. 

Programs will be developed to help tell the story of our past…and provoke thought for the future.  The intern will provide site-based programming, will provide community forums, and will use social media as a means of connecting the parks to the people.  In addition, the intern will gain a greater understanding of the NPS and its mission to preserve and protect…while providing for visitor satisfaction and a connection to the resource. 
  • The Chattahoochee River National Recreation is a 48-mile stretch of protected watershed in metro-Atlanta. It is the largest “green space” in the metropolitan area. The park receives approximately 3 millions visitors/year. Recreational activities in the park include hiking/walking, biking, floating the river, and fishing.
