Shelby Roback

Environmental Educator and Conservation Field Crew Member

My name is Shelby and I’m an outdoor enthusiast and aspiring woodsman. I grew up on the edge of suburban sprawl in Rochester Hills, Michigan. In 2012 I graduated from the University of Michigan with degrees in Environmental Science and Studio Art. I am also an alumna of the Society of Les Voyageurs, a fraternal organization over a hundred years old that is dedicated to a love of nature and the great out-of-doors. I joined the SCA to travel, meet new people, and inspire a love of nature in the next generation. I love living in Bear Brook State Park with all my wonderful new friends, where I can walk outside my cabin and see the sunrise over Spruce Pond every morning. After this I plan on doing another SCA internship and having many more adventures. Eventually I would like build my own passive-solar house and start a homestead where I can grow my own food, raise animals, promote sustainability, and live deliberately with respect and reverence for Nature.
