Jared Coyne was born and raised in the historic downtown neighborhood of Beacon Hill in Boston, Massachusetts. Jared attended the Boston Latin School where he took a strong interest in history, biology and environmental science while playing football and lacrosse. He attended the University of Vermont where he majored in environmental studies with a concentration in environmental education and a minor in history. While in college he discovered an appreciation for the therapeutic powers of nature and the benefits of experiential learning. After graduation he spent some time in Colorado working at a sleepover camp as the coordinator of the camp’s rock wall, zip line and high ropes course. Jared is eager to introduce the values he has gained into the classroom in fun and interactive ways that will make children want to get out and explore the wilderness in order to foster a deeper appreciation for nature, which he believes is a necessary first step for any upcoming environmentalist.
